Spot FOREX traders certainly appreciate the analogy provided by my opening statement. Those older types with a shade of memory left, remember the well written before it’s time Rod Serling Twilight Zone show in the 1960’s.

Forex trading is about developing patience, learning strict discipline, money management and risk management techniques over a sustained period of time in LIVE current market conditions. You must be focused and remain emotionally detached from the market. Easily stated and much harder to accomplish on a consistent basis.

Looking up various definitions…. Mindset is a habitual or characteristic mental attitude that determines how you will interpret and respond to situations.

1. A fixed mental attitude or disposition that predetermines a person’s responses to and interpretations of situations.

2. An inclination or a habit.

I finally realized that success is more internal than external. Habits of mind formed by previous experience. I finally learned that it’s not the tools, it’s the person, who determines their own level of success. You must maintain tremendous Focus over the long haul to insure consistent success.

Folks, Learning to trade successfully in spot Forex markets is a marathon, not a 100-meter dash. Reality is such that it doesn’t go away. Success comes with a price. Prepare for a one-to-three year learning curve while gaining enough experience to survive the journey understanding the markets.

That is phase one of the journey. You want to trade for a living? Expect a five-to-seven year overall journey gaining vast experience executing trades in LIVE current market conditions before moving to elite status of Professional Level Trader for a lifetime. Yes, a Professional Trader who is able to change careers for a lifetime.

Many professionals in various fields go to school for six-to-eight years or more. This amount of commitment seems in line with an Ivy League education.

The Forex market will humble you quickly if attempts are made to take shortcuts. There are no shortcuts towards professional success. You must experience the ebb and flow of markets while creating new habits in your sub-conscious mind.

If you stay the course, you will succeed. Each person will cross the finish line at their own pace. It isn’t a race. It becomes a way of life at the pace your schedule and passion permits for learning. You will build the foundation week after week as your experience grows with time.
